Hammertime! Comments
One of the true legends of Hiphop is on SoundCloud. You guessed right, it’s MC Hammer.
The tunes above are from his really cool DanceJam project (and album), and they can be also found on mchammer.com embedded using the SoundCloud player, of course. We just watched a great battle between two popping masters on DanceJam. It’s a fab place to check the most cutting edge of dance styles…
Actually the Hammer is far ahead of the curve when it comes to using the best web tools available. He’s an avid Twitter user as well, and he blogs a lot. We’re totally excited over providing him with the best possible tools for managing his tracks online.
There’s also this great panel discussion where he shares his ideas and experience of pushing the limits of the web with colleagues like Chamillionaire. Check it out and learn from the masters!

Weekend feature: Share SoundCloud tracks on MySpace Comments
We just launched a tiny but very useful feature on SoundCloud for the weekend. If you click the Share-button for any track you can now post it complete with the SoundCloud widget to MySpace in about two clicks. Simply click the “Share on MySpace”-link and select where you’d like to post it on MySpace (Your blog, About Me, etc) and click post. Kazam, the track is now on MySpace!

Amsterdam Dance Event Comments
Right now me and our man from London Dave Haynes are sitting at the Felix Meritis in Amsterdam. We are here representing SoundCloud at this years Amsterdam Dance Event. And it has been a very good event so far, we have met a lot of cool labels and other music companies and are spreading the word of the cloud. This whole city is really boiling with techno, house and, of course, trance.
If you are in Amsterdam and want to meet up, let us know!

Introducing SoundCloud Creative Commons Support Comments
Today we are pleased to announce that SoundCloud just got full support for Creative Commons licenses. We feel the timing to launch CC license support is perfect since the CC 2008 fundraising campaign just launched (We’ve donated, have you?) and we’ve got BarCamp Berlin coming up this weekend. We’ll be a few guys from the Cloud at BarCamp hacking away and talking about audio on the web. Also, there’s a BarCamp opening party tonight at ZMF where the SoundCloud Dj duo Earthly Purpose will be playing a slow set from 19.00-23.00. Be there or be a square wave.
Also, you can drop CC licensed tracks in the BarCamp DropBox, and it will be played in the lounge during the weekend!
Now on to the fun stuff! The CC license support on SoundCloud is pretty straight-forward. You can pick a license when you upload a track, and you can set a default license in your settings. There are three main modes; All Rights Reserved, Some Rights Reserved, and No Rights Reserved. The default is All Rights Reserved, which means you own all rights to the works you upload.
You can also select the Some Rights Reserved-option which will give you a nice interface where you can assemble your Creative Commons license. You can select whether commercial use is ok, whether derivative works are ok, or whether derivative works should be “shared” alike, meaning derivative works should be shared under the same conditions. Read more about CC licenses here.
Lastly, there’s the No Rights Reserved-option if you want to let anybody do anything they like with your music.
A cool thing is that we’ve also got RDFa support so that all license information will be properly encoded for machine-reading directly in the track pages.
That’s it, now let’s make SoundCloud the best spot for publishing and finding CC licensed music on the web!

User meet-up in China Comments
Dear clouders, I’m going to be in China between the 26:th of October and 11:th of November and during this time I would like to try to meet some of you users. Inspired by Anthony, Taylor and the others over at HypeMachine I’m thinking of setting up a user meet-up in Shanghai and/or Beijing where we can hang out and talk music on the web.
Since I’ve never been to China before and don’t really know my way around, It would be great If someone could assist me in setting this up. If you’re interested in participating or helping out please send me an email at henrik@soundcloud.com
Hope to meet you on Chinese soil!
