EricEric ReBirth 2008: Hobnox Audiotool Comments

We don’t normally blog about other products here, but we feel we have to make an exception, because the new version of the Hobnox Audiotool is just a little bit too cool to not blog about. It gives you a pair of 303:s, an 808, and a 909 plus a bunch of effects–right in the browser. The audiotool is like a flashback of ReBirth 303, one of the first software synthesizer tools to gain huge popularity when it was released back in 1996. Now you can do all that ReBirth did–and much more–in the browser. And you can bounce your songs straight back to the web as well. We’re of course hoping that it will be possible to bounce songs directly to SoundCloud someday, we’ll see…

You’ll need the latest Flash plugin, version 10, that was released yesterday. And this is also an opportunity for us to say that SoundCloud now is fully-Flash 10 compatible. So don’t hesitate to download the update.

Here are some demos on what can be done with the audiotool:

HenrikHenrik SoundCloud Player for Facebook, now viral Comments

We have now deployed a major update for our player application for Facebook. It has been three weeks of hard coding from Johan to get it ready and working for the new Facebook design and platform. We also added some features that we hope you’ll enjoy.

First of all we have made the interface a bit better and easier to understand. It’s not a complicated app but we really want everyone understand how to get their favorite tracks on profiles and pages. Want to read about how it works? Click on the help link next to the headline.

We also added full feed support. This means that every time you add a track, a story will end up in your network’s feed, perfect for taking your tracks on a viral spin. And If you should find a track you like on someone else’s feed, page or profile you can easily add it to yours by clicking the “Add this track to my profile”-button.

A minor update was also made on the SoundCloud side of things. The “Share on Facebook” button is now connected to the Player application so when you hit “Share” the track will be loaded into the application and added to your feed. This makes it much easier to share your favorites even outside of SoundCloud.

Last but not least, you can now also choose whether to show the track comments or not.

If you find any glitches or have any suggestions on how to make the application even better, head over to our page on Get Satisfaction. Happy Facebooking!

HenrikHenrik Thank you all Comments

Thank you for a fantastic release party everyone. We had a great time, hope you did too. We want to grab this opportunity to also thank some people that made this celebration possible.

In the early evening, Swedish new jazz wave musicians Nils Berg (Sax, Flute), Josef Kallerdahl (Bass) and Sebastian Voegler (Drums) played two dirty jazz noir sets that some say was the highlight of the whole evening. Thanks for starting the night with such beautiful music.

In the middle of all the stress we forgot to mention one of the DJ’s that were playing in the evening so let’s correct that error. Fredrik Nyberg aka NIBC played tunes that made all the people outside both warm and in dance mode. Thank you Fredrik! A lot of people were also asking about the food and I’m very to happy to be able to present our caterer and star chef, Shannon Campbell. We are glad you liked his food and so is he.

Tanja & Björn over at PICKNICK also deserve a huge thanks. I can definitely say that your club now lies even closer to our hearts.

And our secret guest and old friend Snax did absolutely not let us down. Two songs was all that was needed to understand this mans brilliance. Check the photos below and you’ll see what we mean. Also check this video from our pre-release rooftop party.

Last but not least, our intern Johan Uhle made all the difference in organizing this monster. Nothing had worked without you and we wish you good luck on the tour with The Golden Pony Boy.

And to finish off, here are some pictures from the party. Photographer Tony Dahlgren

EricEric We’re live. Comments

At the moment the brave Clouders are busy celebrating at PICKNICK, dancing to the music of some fantastic artists (1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8). It’s been one mad week of looong days and nights of coding, hacking and communicating with lovely SoundCloud members from all over the planet.

And now we’re live. Open. Ready to move your music.

We dedicate this opening release to the one and only Kate. We’ve listened to your music almost every day for a year straight. We’re all running up that hill.

HenrikHenrik #8 Olof Dohnhammar & Anders Ivarsson Comments

Ok, we’re getting close but we still have four more DJ’s to announce and they are all ones we are really looking forward to. The end of the countdown begins with:

Olof Dohnhammar (Klikkboxning, Plejour Audio, Uppsala)
http://soundcloud.com/dohnhammar

Anders Ivarsson (Dynamic, Uppsala)
http://www.myspace.com/andywelt

I met Olof and Anders the first time back in 2005 when visiting their quite legendary club Dynamic in Uppsala, Sweden. They were already then blessing minimal techno and dark dancefloors with immense amounts of smoke. Their floor at the club was probably not the most crowded but definitely the one with soul. Now almost three years later things have changed, and so have they. Olof is now involved in a boiling techno duo, together with PICKNICK’s own MTE, called Klikkboxning. And Anders is running the most secret technolabel I’ve ever heard about. No website, no name, no distribution and no logo, just 200 limited vinyls sold or handed to DJ’s he and his friends like. Talk about staying off the radar!

Anyway, they will join us at the party to give you the best of disco-techno they have and together with Elias & Yourhighness they will make your sweat drip of the ceiling upstairs. Talk about combination!

NilsNils #7 Remute (Live!) Comments

This live-performer is truly one of the best in techno-europe.
He already played in some of the best clubs including PanoramaBar, Flex in Vienna, Click in Hamburg, Nitsa, Tresor and of course the HarryKlein in Munich. Let’s say hi to:

Remute (Traum, Trapez, MBF, Areal, Dial, …)
http://soundcloud.com/remute

After lonely and quiet years of experiments and self-discovery he released his first 12″ called “Hypnoconsole” and got remixed by Munich-Techno-Hero Richard Bartz. The first livegigs followed directly and led him into smoky rave-basements, uproarious clubs, sunny open-airs, as well as shaky party-boats…
Due to excessive and unresting music-making Denis released lots of 12″s on fine labels like Traum/Trapez/MBF, Areal , Dial, Weave or Liebe*Detail. He has also made remixes for artists like Dominik Eulberg, Move D or Kid Alex and in 2006 he released his first highly acclaimed self-titled album on Ladomat and since then he is touring excessively througout whole europe.
His livesets are like a roller coaster ride of emotions.
Not just a great rave experience, but especially one of those Do you remember when? -feelings which stick although the moment itself is long gone. His regular appearance in magazine polls for best live act of the year proves that this is not just theory!

Here’s a remix from our live-performer:

HenrikHenrik #6 Adeline Supreme & La Fleur Comments

They have played their special blend of mega house, filthy beats and dirty dancing all over europe by now, including places like Ibiza and S:t Petersburg. And, one of them is actually celebrating her birthday with us on friday! Give it up for the extremely energetic duo:

Adeline Supreme (Housewives, Stockholm)
http://soundcloud.com/adeline

La Fleur (Housewives, Stockholm)
http://soundcloud.com/lafleur

From playing piano, drums, organ and a couple of different flutes in Adeline’s very early years she proceeded to DJing in 2004. It all started in a DJ school she attended in a grey winter Stockholm, Sweden…
…And from the day Adeline learnt what a pitch was, she has certainly evolved her own style. Mega House is everything you wish for when you feel like dancing! Call it dirty house, electro house, progressive house or filthy techno grooves, whichever, it will pull in your jeans and tee until you jump up and down, as much as she does.  The DJing has taken her from discos to discos in Sweden, Germany, Spain, Norway, Russia and Finland. Since the autumn of 2006 she is working with Housewives, which has evolved to become a very well known conceptual DJ duo.

La Fleur’s style is not easily captured, technically astounding and blessed with a unique presence, she seduces any crowd into musical bliss. Not willing to niche herself, La Fleur charmes the audience with tasteful minimal only to follow it up with a wake up call of harsh electro and ruthless techno. Forget any myths about Swedes being chilled, this lady has an arsenal of musical weapons that can whip any dancefloor into a state of arousal.

Having started back in 2003, La Fleur quickly became known around the Stockholm scene and landed residencies at all the major clubs including: Grodan Cocktail Club, Berns and Teatron; as well as numerous international bookings in such cities as: Dubai, Barcelona, Jakarta, Athens, Marrakech, Berlin and Beirut. La Fleur was ranked as nr 6 in “Swedens’s best topp 100 DJs- list” and now being nominated by Scandinavian Music Convention (SMC) in the category “Best DJ” 2008.

Success has leaded La Fleur to focuss fulltime on her DJ profession, while devoting her scarce free time to producing her own style of music.

Their latest Top Ten Chart is right over at Juno, get it now!

NilsNils #5 Guy J Comments

Oh my! This Guy is heavy. There’s a lot of upcoming bright stars coming from Tel Aviv at the moment but this one might just be the shiniest. This is one of the first stops for the Esperanza album tour and his first gig in Germany ever!

Guy J (Bedrock Records, Turbo Records)

http://soundcloud.com/guy-j

After setting the scene alight with numerous killer singles, Israeli producer Guy J now releases his highly anticipated full length album with label heavyweights, Bedrock Records.

Guy J has emerged over the course of the last two years to represent an intrinsic part of the Israeli dance music juggernaut that steadily has been powering through Clubland in recent times. Along with fellow countrymen Guy Gerber, Sholmi Aber, Chaim and Gel Abril, Guy has been at the forefront of a movement back towards the melody-rich sounds on which House music is based.

Here’s a track from the new album:

HenrikHenrik #4 Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid Comments

There is no doubt that these two technofreaks are Swedens new hope for electronic music. They have already released on a dussin different labels around Europe and are truly the hottest thing since sliced bread. We are very happy to present to you:

Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid (Stockholm LTD, Islands & Islets, Stockholm)

http://soundcloud.com/van-rivers
http://soundcloud.com/the-subliminal-kid

After many years behind the microphone, screaming in various punk bands, Van Rivers realized that the way to go on was behind the machines. With the stunning hit “Kill The Disco” released on Cologne based label “Boxer” during 2006 Van Rivers paved the way for dance floor success. Besides producing under the name Van Rivers, Henrik works as a recording engineer and producer for everything from local band to well know artists. He belongs to the studio complex “Five Guys and a Dog” with neighbors like Marcus Enochson and close friend The Subliminal Kid.

Here is an extract from his lates release on Pär Grindviks label Stockholm LTD:

The Subliminal Kid used to work for the well known studio Murlyn Music helping out with productions like Britney Spears – Toxic. He also has a history of producing quite famous swedish rockbands like the Shout Out Louds aswell as composing funky chip music. Nowadays he is producing unique techno with a special feeling for groove and chords. He is a total synthesizer nerd and his Macbeth M5N jam has been widely spread. His first release was on Free Form Fives label Perspex back in 2006 and since then his tracks has been endorsed by hot shots like Gilles Peterson and Gabriel Ananda.

Here is one of his hits on label Still Music:

Together these two party animals gives you the best dj- and livesets in this part of the world and for our party they are doing a combination. Can’t. Be. Missed.

HenrikHenrik #3 Elias & Yourhighness Comments

These two Swedes are already pretty well known around Berlin and other European party cities. We give you:

Yourhighness (Ultracity / Rollerboys Recordings, Stockholm)

Elias (Ultracity / Rollerboys Recordings / Arken, Stockholm)

http://soundcloud.com/ultracity

http://soundcloud.com/yourhighness

Elias and Yourhighness are behind projects like Ultracity, Arken and the excellent label Rollerboys Recordings. Sweaty disco is their thing and they have played gigs, arranged wild parties and released rocking tracks for quite some time. For us they were a self-evident booking.

Check them out on myspace aswell!
