David Announcing First Soundcloud Integrations With Audio Software at NAMM

Maybe you have noticed that our own Alex & Henrik are in Los Angeles right now, mingling with the many folks present at NAMM and to make a few big announcements. Here we go:

Today, we’re proud to announce the first in a series of product integrations with professional software makers which will enable you to upload your tracks to the web, straight from your favorite audio applications. Boom!

The first partnerships we’re announced today are with Studio One from PreSonus and Audiofile Engeneering’s Wave Editor. Ableton Live to follow very soon!

Following our recent partnership with Abbey Road’s online mastering service, today’s announcement marks another step for on the road to enable a fully integrated digital music ecosystem.

Working with Studio One and Wave Editor you’ll be able to upload your tracks direct to your SoundCloud account from within the application, bypassing the need to bounce tracks to the desktop and then upload. These integrations were built using the SoundCloud API, which enables any developer to create a huge range of audio applications and services based on core SoundCloud functionality, like the streaming, uploading and downloading of music.

Outstanding! Nice work. Does the integration take into consideration the type of account the user has? e.g. If you upload a the same song name, does it create a new VERSION of the track if you have a Pro account?

I'm not sure I properly understand why any smart producer wouldn't want a master copy of their track on their local drive too. The huge benefits of cloud distrib are obvious, whereas the iLife-style workflow of going straight from app to cloud seems non-pro to me. Perhaps I'm too old school.

Well, he/she can still do that, of course. But now you have the choice to get it straight into the cloud, if you want to.

    Sounds pretty good

Yes all this week, I have been bouncing the files to my desktop, man my imac looks a mess! Lol

It would be a good idea if this works, it would save a lot of time but what if you want to master it in say Logic like I do? then will work still?

It would be good if it worked in say the top 3 DAW's, (Logic, Live & Cubase)

Your on the right track anyway

    Soundcloud rocks! :)

    hey,

if you export a track it is always saved to the hard drive as well before sent to the cloud, but you can skip the steps of opening the browser, finding the right file. etc.

the export feature works regardless of what type of soundcloud account you have, i.e. it's not a premium only feature. if you upload a track with the same title as one of your previous tracks it will get a suffix added to the name.

FL Studio integration would also be appreciated. Not just the above so-called 'top DAWs'.

: Syreral : I see what your saying, but the 'top 3' professional programs really are just that.

FL studio is coming along in leaps & bounds but isn't really seen as a 'pro DAW' in many peoples eyes

Depends what production process you use (I use 3 step)

    Keep making those tunes! :)

just want to comment here that it's not us (as in soundcloud) who decide what DAWs (or other audio programs) that get soundcloud features. our api is open for use by any third-party developers but we're obviously happy to see the top applications jumping on the train.

I was just kinda screwing around with an mp3 vocal from CCmixter and some S1 hip-hop loops. Problem being that the track shows up as “not currently available” when embedded even though it plays fine from Soundcloud. Not sure how to fix that.
