David New Feature: Customize Your Profile

After months of hardcore development we’re happy to share with you today a new feature that will enhance the SoundCloud experience big time. Starting today, you’re able to customize your profile with background images.

We believe that the ability to customize your profile can be a key component for self-expression on the web and we’re thrilled to be finally releasing a much-requested feature.

For today’s launch we have teamed up with a series of SoundClouders to show you how powerful this new feature can be. Click through to the respective accounts below to see what we mean:

Besides this group of beta testers, we’ll be rolling out the feature to all users.

Also, the SoundCloud team is pretty excited about being finally able to offer you this new exciting feature. Pretty much everyone on the team jumped high and enabled the feature on their own profiles. Find some of our Cloud People here.

    apparently this is just an april fools gag. the “months of hardcore development” made me laugh, but i wouldn’t be interested in a feature like that if it did exist, i think the site is perfect the way it is.

    although, since this is up, i wanted to comment on something i found recently that for 2 years i didn’t know existed (granted i didn’t log in all that often not having seen this feature upon first signing up). first of all, let me say that i’m a music fan looking for music. and i’ve been so frustrated at not being able to stumble across anything on my own without knowing the name of an artist. anyway, i found out that soundcloud users have the ability to search for latest uploads of all users and the ability to search using tags. i swear when i signed up that only “hot” tracks were listed, and i dont care about hot tracks, i want to hear the artists who aren’t being heard. what i’m trying to say is… if that did exist since the beginning, maybe you could/should make that easier to find or stand out more so that new fans stick around and can find what they’re looking for. just a thought. ~x.
