Joining the team straight from NYC, please help me say “Wassup” to Community Manager Matt Ford! But first, listen to his audio message below!
Fun Friday: Meet Matt Ford by SoundCloud Community Team
Hey hey Matt!
Hallo! Wie geht’s?!?
So Matt, I know the answer to this question intimately, but can you tell us what your your role at SoundCloud is? Also, how do you like working in the Berlin HQ?
I am the newest Community Manager here at SoundCloud Berlin. Working here is great! Great location! Great coworkers! Part time at St Oberholz isn’t too shabby either.
You have lived in NYC the last few years, how was re-locating to Berlin?
The move was painless really. I think the hardest part has been trying to convince my friends to now come and visit. The HR team here at SoundCloud made my transition easy. I left NY on a Friday and got to Berlin on Montag. Ich liebe Deutschland!
How did you get introduced to SoundCloud and what do you love most about it?
A ton of my friends in New York are musicians or DJs and had been using the service for a while. Forever, I would sit at work listening to music on the Cloud instead of using all of the music in my computer’s library. When I decided to start putting up content of my own online, SoundCloud was the perfect fit.
What are your favorite Sounds on the Cloud?
Im really LOVING the New York City Subway sounds at the moment. I miss the craziness of the NY Subway system a lot. Here in Berlin, things are a bit more “civilized.”
SpringSt JMZ onBoard Announcement by kahosato
Being that Berlin is the world’s hub of electronic music, I have found myself listening to this group of two producers called Homework. Their Hudson Square single is blowing my mind. Makes me want to throw my arms in the air and sing along! Hoping to catch them this summer here in Berlin.
Can you give us a few reasons why it is kick ass to work at SoundCloud?
Our Community is the best. So many creative people sharing their incredible sounds. Very inspirational. The people that work here are so amazingly funny, caring and work their asses off. It’s seriously the best!
Finally, do you have any fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
I do an annual (Unofficial) Dr. Dre Birthday party called Dre Day every year. We are hoping to make it happen this year here in Berlin. Also, Shaq follows me on Twitter. Would love to get him involved in posting content on SoundCloud. SHAQ DO YOU HEAR ME?
Thanks Matt for the great interview! If you want to interact with him, you can find him here:
