SoundCloud Voices is a new weekly Community feature focusing on new spoken word creators found on SoundCloud. It might be a podcast, radio show, audio book, interview, audio messages, a poem, anything! Keep an eye out every Thursday for a new post.
We’ve got two brilliant interview podcasts for you this week, both of which have a great pedigree in the podcast world and have just started using SoundCloud in the last couple of months! Take a listen and follow them!
First up is Public Radio International’s Bullseye which in their own words “is your guide to the good stuff in culture”. Jesse Thorn hosts in-depth interviews with brilliant creators, culture recommendations and irreverent original comedy. Bullseye has been featured in Time, The New York Times, GQ to name a few and was formerly know as The Sound of Young America which he started in 1999 and has featured the likes of Simon Pegg, Judd Apatow, Flying Lotus, Werner Herzog, Phil Collins and Bootsy Collins to name a few. It’s also part of the Maximum Fun podcast network which also features comedy podcast Jordan Jesse Go and Judge John Hodgman. It’s a great podcast, featuring great guests and great cultural recommendations. Take a listen below to his interview with Chris Lilley, writer of Summer Heights High and Angry Boys.
Next up is the slightly more adult but equally brilliant is The Gentleman’s Club with Caleb Bacon. The Gentlemen’s Club with Caleb Bacon is a weekly interview show featuring goofy conversations with comedians, television and radio personalities, and live nude pornstars. This weekly show comes to you from Los Angeles free in MP3 each Monday. For Gentlemen, since 2009. An by pure coincidence Caleb interviewed Mr Jesse Thorn from Bullseye in his latest episode which conveniently allows to save our blushes and not post an interview with a porn star! Take a listen below.

It’s a new year and it’s time to go beyond listening & playing, and get more social by sharing sounds and interactions on SoundCloud to Facebook! Back in September at the Facebook F8 launch, we were announced as an integration partner, and here are the results. Starting today, you’ll be able to share your SoundCloud activity and interactions to Facebook more easily, putting more sound into your Timeline!
In addition to showcasing your newly uploaded sounds and favorites on SoundCloud, you will now be able to share:
- the cool SoundClouders you started following
- the engaging groups you joined
- and the sweet sounds you listened to while cruising the community
It’s totally up to you to enable the additional actions, but if you do, there will be a recap of your activity on SoundCloud in your Facebook Timeline each month.
You’ll have the option to connect and disconnect anything at any time at the following link as well.
- If you enabled sharing sounds you listened to on SoundCloud to Facebook, all sounds you listen to will be posted to the Facebook Ticker, no matter where you’re listening on the web. So that means: if you listen on the iPhone, iPad, Android app, mobile site, and/or via an embedded widget while logged into SoundCloud, these sounds will be shared to the Facebook Ticker and recapped in your Timeline.
- If you have your Facebook account connected to SoundCloud, by default your newly uploaded sounds and favorites will be posted to Facebook. You can turn this off here if you wish.
That’s it for now, folks! If you have additional questions about this, please check the FAQs that appear at the top of this page. In the meantime, dig into the SoundCloud Facebook app and go beyond listening & playing by sharing your ‘Cloud interactions with your friends and unmute your Timeline!
Found Sounds is a SoundCloud community feature focusing on some of the most weird and wonderful sounds that can be found on SoundCloud. Count on new installments with some of our favorite sounds each Tuesday!
As the craze of Ping Pong sweeps nations, that infamous sound may rouse feelings of adrenaline, excitement, maybe even frustration! This week I thought we’d share SoundCloud’s love of Ping Pong with all of you. Every Friday we love to head down to our office basement, share some beers and play group Ping Pong. We’ve even taken this craze with us over to our San Francisco office, take a listen:
In Berlin you’ll find a Ping Pong table in pretty much any park you go to, and in the summer months you’ll have to get in their early to bag a table. There’s something so relaxing about this rhythmic noise in the background while spending a day in the park. If walls had ears has a great collection of field recordings from their city life in Barcelona, he captured this atmosphere perfectly.
Here’s an alternative take on the sounds of Ping Pong, SoundClouder Ben Fawkes has taken the sounds of a ball ending its bounce and slowed it down to give it a deep space sound. This is what Ping Pong would sound like in outer space.
So, take out your paddles, check this map for your nearest Ping Pong table and get your game on!
That’s all for this week’s Found Sounds! Tune in next week for more crazy sounds from the ‘Cloud.
