Jami SoundCloud Speaks #3 – Steven Leckart

Earlier this year, we introduced our new audio series ‘SoundCloud Speaks‘, where we take an in-depth look into stories from the ‘cloud, and the users behind them. Today, we’re happy to present our third installment.

In this episode, Evan spoke to Steven Leckart, writer for Wired and Pop-Up Magazine, about how he uses audio recording (and SoundCloud) as part of both his work, and his personal life. For Steven, capturing sound isn’t just about recording words to transcribe, but saving a moment in time.

Jami SoundCloud Speaks – #2 – Roman Mars

Today we’re happy to present another installment of our new audio series ‘SoundCloud Speaks’. The series gives us a chance to take an in-depth look into stories from the ‘cloud, whether they’re interesting users, fun projects or shiny-new features we’ve introduced.

In this episode we’ll hear from SoundCloud power-user and radio-producer extraordinaire, Roman Mars. Roman lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, producing the popular podcast and micro-radio show 99% Invisible. He is also the host, program director, and creative mind behind PRX’s fantastic 24-hour story stream, Public Radio Remix. Listen in, as we talk with Roman about his projects, how he got started in radio, and his on-going love affair with the human voice on tape.

Jami Introducing ‘SoundCloud Speaks’, our new audio series!

Today we’re announcing our new audio series ‘SoundCloud Speaks’, where we’ll be taking an in-depth look into stories from the ‘cloud, shedding light on new features, and showcasing some of your fantastic work!

In this first episode, we had a chat with Disquiet‘s Marc Weidenbaum about ambient music, noise, and the compositional challenges he sets using SoundCloud. Marc curated Instagr/am/bient, where 25 ambient producers swapped Instagram photos and composed music to match the photo they received, and currently is running Junto weekly where Marc sets a weekly brief, giving users four days to submit a composition to a SoundCloud Group.
