This Week in Tumblr: July 26 – 30

Hey everyone! This week’s Tumblr recap bids a fond farewell to July and for us Berliners, the sweltering heat that made this month extra hot (two straight weeks of 36°C heat! that’s 97°F for those of you stateside). Things are finally cooling down, but by the looks of the SoundCloud Tumblr, you’d never know…

On Monday:

  • Festinho is coming up soon in just 3.5 weeks! If you’re a musician hailing from the festival’s local grounds of Northamptonshire or Bedfordshire, learn how you can win a chance to perform live by clicking here. For the chance to win a pair of tickets (transportation not included), email with your favorite summer cocktail, name, and age. Good luck!

  • Grinderman, Nick Cave’s other band, is back. Listen to the track “Heathen Child” from their forthcoming album Grinderman 2, due for release September 13th on Mute Records:           And don’t forget to visit their website for a bizarre teaser for the album!
  • After much anticipation, Little Boots has announced the winner of her ‘Earthquake’ remix competition. Congratulations to Supernoir, whose winning mix you can hear below: You can hear all the entries over at the contest’s group page.

  • Check out the SoundCloud-powered sampler on UK-based record label Full Time Hobby‘s website. Nice addition, we must say ;)

  • Music Hackday is looking for their official theme song for this year’s London conference! Here’s what you have to do: Create a 60-second track of any genre, register it under a non-commercial Creative Commons license, and submit it to the Music Hack Day dropbox. You’ve only got until this Friday, August 6 to submit your track, so get going!
  • Mark Knight and Toolroom have announced the winner of their remix competition. Congratulations to Drew Scott and Hollywood Hills! You can listen to their winning remix by clicking here.

And that rounds up the weekly recap. Ready for the next one? Happy Monday everyone!
