Fun Friday: Make your own music video
Have you ever thought a certain track and video would be perfect for each other? Well, now you can find out!
Thor Kell, one of the web developers here at SoundCloud, put together a fun website that auto-plays SoundCloud tracks with silenced YouTube/Vimeo videos. If you head on over to instantmusicvideo.appspot.com, you can check out the example video. Then, once you feel ready, you can make your own!
Here’s a little step-by-step on how to do this…
Step 1: Find a video
Choose any video you like! It can be funny, sad, mysterious, animated – really, whatever you want. Once you’ve figured out which video you want to use, save the video url and paste it in the text box above “enter a Vimeo or Youtube url here”. As another example, I chose an animated short film.
Step 2: Find a SoundCloud track
Now, here’s the slightly tricky part. Tip: make sure you grab a track that is around the same length as the video. Since the video I’m using is 3 minutes long, I chose Caribou’s “Found Out” to go along with it (which is a bit over 3 minutes).
Also, keep in mind what kind of “mood” you want your little music video to portray. You can pick a track that doesn’t fit at all for hilarity or choose a track that works well. Once again, it’s all up to you.
Once you’ve decided on the SoundCloud song you want, copy the track url and paste it in the box above “enter a SoundCloud track url here”.
Step 3: Make the video
Click “Get your Spike Jonez on” and voila! You have a music video!
Step 4: Show it off
Share your video! You can share it by right-clicking on “Link to this music video” (above the video text box), choose “Copy link address”, and paste that link anywhere you like on the Internet.
So what kind of music video did you come up with?
