This Week in Tumblr: SongKick, SXSW, Said.fm and more
Hopefully everyone had a great weekend! This is what went on last week at the SoundCloud Tumblr blog:
Monday
- Tjinder Singh from Cornershop gave some insight into the sound of their new album Cornershop & The Double ‘O’ Groove in addition to working with Bubbley Kaur.
Tuesday
- Our friends at Gobbler are searching for more beta testers. It’s a really cool app that lets you manage, share and backup music projects from popular apps like Live, Logic and Pro Tools. Their latest version brought forthreally nice SoundCloud integration.
Wednesday
- Lee Martin’s most recent installment in the series of open-source apps is called Premiere. It does what it says: lets you create a beautiful single page to present an album stream for the release of your new record.
- Check out how great our new SongKick integration looks in action on Curt Smith’s SoundCloud page. He’s using it to show off his intimate residency next month in Los Angeles — cool!
Thursday
- If you like audio books, check out this one! Willy Vlautin put together a short story based on characters from his book Lean on Pete.
- This is quite a first! Something for all you medical doctors and field recorders out there: Rene Decombe captured sounds of sportsmen at the gym and mixed it with electromyagraphics (say that out loud three times quick). True sound art.

- In the picture above, spot SoundCloud co-founder and CTO Eric and an artist known today as Robyn. Found them?
- SXSW in Austin, TX is one of the premiere events for labels to showcase their upcoming artists. We thought we’d turn the tables and showcase some of the folks behind the scenes, and one of the many types of users on our platform. We spoke with Karen Piper over at Radar Maker about how she likes using SoundCloud, and some of the features she finds most helpful. Check it out!
- Music and the web – we love both of them right? Well the podcast curators Said.fm are running a listening night called Radio Box and they want to hear your story! Read their blog post for more details, or go straight to their Drop Box!
