This Week in Tumblr: Berklee, Imogen Heap & more
Lots of stuff went on at our Tumblr blog last week. By lots we mean lots…the week was just totally packed! Check out what happened below.
Monday
- Elena Tonra aka Daughter self-released her first EP ‘His Young Heart’. The track Landfill is available for free download on SoundCloud.
- Tim Exile’s was it again! This time at London’s SouthBank Centre Ether Festival with a live jam based entirely on sounds submitted by you.
Tuesday
- We were thrilled to announce a partnership with Berklee music, the online continuing education division of Boston-based Berklee College of Music. The school decided to power its online network with SoundCloud features and give over 75,000 members an easy way to upload, share, and receive feedback on music, possible thanks to the SoundCloud API.
- We launched our awesome Found Sounds community feature, highlighting incredible sounds out there that you’ve probably never heard before!
- And we also launched our weekly roundup featured SoundCloud Spotted with the most interesting uses of SoundCloud out on the internets. Last week featured Incubus, Foo Fighters, LetLive’s and more. Check it out!
Wednesday
- The Next Web is making great use of their SoundCloud Premium account for their daily 5-minute tech news recap, easily letting you stay top of what’s happening in the world of technology. Follow The Next Web Daily Dose right here on SoundCloud.
- Remember when Imogen Heap announced that she would write and produce her next album with the help of her fans? 791 sounds and 225 solos later, Imogen was happy to present the first song she’s written with contributions of some of her most loyal fans. #heapsong1 turned into a song called Lifeline featuring 40 sounds from 36 different people! You can purchase the single with bonus material right here.

- Wednesday meant another weekly roundup of contests and submissions of all kinds! Gaymers Camden Crawl Festival, K Koke’s rap competition, sadder’s remix comp, Laptoprockers & Vanity Theft, Retro City Rampage winners and Mark Zimmerman. (a whole lot!) Check them all out here!
Thursday
- English language teacher Tyson Seburn from Toronto reached out to us about a presentation he did at the Virtual Round Table Conference where he talked about the way he uses SoundCloud for his courses. A fantastic use case for sound in education! Check his blog post for more details and inspiration
- The best way to enjoy a big screen TV.
- We launched the awesome People Finder. Great way to find some of the most interesting users on SoundCloud, including your own friends from Facebook!
