Fun Friday: Meet Alice Regester

Fun Friday: Meet Alice Regester

For this Fun Friday, please help me say a hardy hello to Alice Regester! Read her interview below and say “hey” to her in the comments!

Hey Alice! How are you doing?

Hello! Extremely well thank you – the sun is shining in London, which makes a pleasant change and I’m still excited from seeing the Pet Shop Boys and Take That in concert last night (no cheeky comments please…I was fulfilling a teenage dream).

Can you tell us what your role at SoundCloud is?

Well I look after the PR for SoundCloud, but unlike most of the people you chat to for Fun Friday, I actually run a PR and social media marketing agency, so SoundCloud is our lovely client.

I’ve been working closely with the team since October last year and feel very much part of the family. Although I’m not based in the London HQ, our office is just round the corner, also on ‘Silicon Roundabout’. The vibe is so exciting and motivating at the moment, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Where are you originally from and what are your favorite things about living in London?

I grew up in Cambridge and then moved to London after University. I love the diversity, culture and pace of London; there’s always something to do, see and get excited about. I lived in Sydney for five years and as much as the beach lifestyle suits me, it was too far away from the action, my family and friends in the end.

How did you get introduced to SoundCloud and what do you love most about it?

I used to be the PR director at MySpace and one of the friends I made there knows Alex really well, so put us in touch. There are so many things I love about SoundCloud – the people, the ambition, the vision; how it’s enabling people to connect with and create sound in ways that haven’t been possible before. I love that people are now beginning to capture and share sound in the way they’re used to with text, photos and videos and SoundCloud is the driving force behind that.

What are your favorite Sounds on the cloud?

My favourite band on SoundCloud is MyTigerMyTiming, which might be slightly biased as I work with Seb, one of the members! Their new single Endless Summer is out on 1st August, so I may as well give them a plug here:

I saw recently that someone is trying to collect different heartbeats, of which there are supposedly 70. They haven’t got too far yet, but I like the concept…

Can you give us a few reasons why it is awesome to work at SoundCloud?

How could it not be awesome to work for the fastest-growing sound platform on the planet?! The people are passionate and supportive, the vibe is exciting and very ‘start-up’ even though the company’s quickly expanding, and Alex and Eric are so cool and inspiring that it makes anyone want to jump aboard and join them for the ride!

Finally, do you have any fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?

I love scuba diving and once dove with 40 Grey Nurse Sharks –they look like jaws, but won’t actually hurt you…it was amazing! And I’m a qualified masseuse.

Woo woo! Cool! Thanks for the interview Alice, follow her on the interwebz below :)
