SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices is a weekly Community feature focusing on new spoken word creators found on SoundCloud. It might be a podcast, radio show, audio book, interview, audio messages, a poem, anything! Keep an eye out every Thursday for a new post.

This weeks post has a political agenda! Well maybe not an agenda, but today we’d like to introduce you to a few organisations who are politically minded, using SoundCloud to inform news, interviews and reports with a political and sociological perspective.

First up is British Columbia Government who have been using SoundCloud for a good 6 months now. Reporting on the likes of the Vancouver Riots, posting their conference calls, weekly radio addresses and also covering important, prevalent issues occurring in British Columbia. It’s a great example of how SoundCloud can be used to quickly distribute information and improve transparency. Here’s Christy Clark’s announcement after the riots in Vancouver.

Next up is all the way in Scotland. The Scottish Government have just started to include SoundCloud as part of their social media activities. Like BC Gov, they too are using SoundCloud as a quick and easy way to deliver news and announcements regarding issues such as employment, corporation tax, and even the importance of the Gaelic language to Scotland’s heritage. In fact here is announcement about that, in Gaelic!

And finally, it’s not only governmental organisations that are using SoundCloud, many charities focussed on political and sociological issues are delivering news and messages too. Take the Rights Working Group for example. This organisation strives to restore the American commitment to protect civil liberties and human rights for all people in the U.S.A. Recording conference calls, the various organisations related to the RWG share their activities and then post these recordings online.
