SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices is a new weekly Community feature focusing on new spoken word creators found on SoundCloud. It might be a podcast, radio show, audio book, interview, audio messages, a poem, anything! Keep an eye out every Thursday for a new post.

Thursday means SoundCloud Voices time, and this week we’d like to introduce you to some of the many spoken word podcasts covering the music industry. There are so many areas to talk about in music, the following are a selection covering straight up album reviews, to digital music to music in soundtracks and video games. Enjoy!

First up is Digital Music Trends, hosted by Andrea Leonelli. The show has been going strong since March 2009 and focuses in on the latest developments in digital music, from the latest music start ups, to streaming servies, business models and more! Take a listen to his show from last week where he interviews the CEO of new start up, SoundOut.

Next up is a unique take on the album review. Hate Your Answering Machine is a fantastic podcast by Brian Merril Garcia, a writer from Detroit, where he phones up and leaves a message to an answering machine. In his own words – The Answering Machine Messages are a mini-podcast that wittily connects big ideas and personal experiences to the biggest release of the week. These messages are a “reading” of a piece of music, not reviews per say. The podcast airs every Tuesday on Chicago Public Radio’s Vocalo.org at 7 PM CST. Take a listen to the latest message he left about the Peter Wolf Crier album.

And finally, last but not least is Sound Design Live, which is a creative design podcast about audio in the real world. Hosted by Nathan Lively, Nathan interviews people within the music industry responsible for creating sound in the concert, theatre, industrial and gallery worlds. In his latest podcast Nathan talks to Bob Lentini a sound engineer, software programmer and entrepreneur.
