Found Sounds: Pinball Wizard
Found Sounds is a SoundCloud community series focusing on some of the most weird and wonderful sounds that can be found on SoundCloud. Count on new installments with some of our favorite sounds each Tuesday!
Pinball machines — and arcades in general — might be a bit past their heyday. Most kids these days aren’t spending their Saturdays in dark rooms with a fistful of quarters and sensory input provided by flashing lights and arcade noises. And it’s a shame too, because listen to how great these machines sound!
Today’s first sound was recorded by a SoundCloud user by the name of gcanavera, who was able to get a field recording from one of the remaining palaces of pinball, Lyons Classic Pinball in Colorado. This field recording is a bit overwhelming from all the arcade machines going on at once, but give it a listen!

Today’s second sound is a great one from New Zealand sound designer James Hayday. He created these sounds with a Korg Monotron for a Mountain Dew project called Skate Pinball that truly has to be seen to be believed.

The last Found Sound this week comes from a Peter Wyeth in Leicester, UK. He recorded the sounds of an amusement park in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Close your eyes and give it a listen — almost feels like you’re there!
