Jane SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices is a new weekly Community feature focusing on new spoken word creators found on SoundCloud. It might be a podcast, radio show, audio book, interview, audio messages, a poem, anything! Keep an eye out every Thursday for a new post.

What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas…that is, unless you find some way to capture the moment. Luckily, as hundreds of tech-reporters converged on Sin City for the annual Consumer Electronics Show (also known as CES), SoundCloud’s mobile app helped them capture some great interviews and conversations on the show-room floor.

One reporter interviewing folks with his phone was Matt Berger, of the popular US radio show MarketPlace. He continuously updated MarketPlace’s Tech-blog by using SoundCloud to post interviews directly from the show-room floor. Check out some of the interviews he captured as he browsed through booths of high-tech boom boxes, smart phones and 3-d printers.

Reporter Nathan Olivarez-Giles was also in the thick of it at CES. Nathan is the lead writer for the L.A. Times Tech-blog, and spent some time chatting about the future of web-connected cars with Ford’s Venkatesh Prasad.

Finally, SoundCloud user Robert Scoble was also at CES, broadcasting interviews live over the Internet using Flipzu (learn more about how SoundCloud and Flipzu are integrated here). While wandering through the depths of techie-wonderland, Robert stumbled upon an unlikely character. Check out the track below to find out which rock star is also an aspiring tech-geek!

And, if you’re already gearing up for next year’s convention, be sure to check out this article on making the most of CES, written by SoundCloud’s very own Henrik Lenberg!

Edward Found Sounds | Sound asleep

Found Sounds is a SoundCloud community feature focusing on some of the most weird and wonderful sounds that can be found on SoundCloud. Count on new installments with some of our favorite sounds each Tuesday!

After a long, hard day you want more than anything to sit back on the sofa, rest your head and catch 40 winks. But have you ever wondered how you sound while you’re knocked out to the world? Raise your hand if you’re ‘that guy’, the one who keeps everyone awake with their incessant snoring! Many of you have caught the offenders and posted them right up on SoundCloud, well we’re about to name and shame you! Here’s one of the worst we found, Ross MCGill caught relative Des McGill snoozing and captured the sounds of his snores!

But it’s not just us humans who suffer from noisy nights, we catch our pets at it too. It’s cat vs dog, listen carefully to Sherlock the dog and Rocky the cat’s deep sleep.

Are you the one famed for your snoring, or is it a friend? Name and shame them in this weeks Found Sounds by sharing their snores with the SoundCloud office, just drop them in our dropbox.

That’s all for this week’s Found Sounds! Tune in next week for more crazy sounds from the ‘Cloud.

SoundCloud SoundCloud Stories

Remember back in December, we asked former SoundClouders Of The Day to record their SoundCloud story, which included favorite moments of the year and other things they’d like to say to other Community members. We posted one a day and collected an awesome amount of stories, so many that we couldn’t fit them all into December! Now, we’re embedding the set of all the #SCstories we received! You can hear ’em below.

You can also check out all the posts in their entirety on our Tumblr blog! And no need to fear, if you want to still share your #SCstory with us, please do! You can send us one to the Community Team’s DropBox. We’d love to hear it :)
