SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices

SoundCloud Voices is a weekly Community feature focusing on new spoken word creators found on SoundCloud. It might be a podcast, radio show, audio book, interview, audio messages, a poem, anything! Keep an eye out every Thursday for a new post.

Voices this week takes a look at some charity organisations using SoundCloud, ranging from Marie Curie, to BAFTA and the Children’s Radio Foundation.

First up Marie Curie has been using SoundCloud to embed audio into their site.  Using the mini player the cancer care charity have posted recordings of their nurses explaining the support they provide and where donations go in terms of the help they provide.  Take a look on their site for an example and listen below.

Next up is BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts who fund the development of all art forms of the moving image.  They have been using SoundCloud as part of their education initiative.  They record and share Q&As with various directors, actors and experts in the industry.  Take a listen to one of their Q&As with Martin Scorsese and Ben Kingsley about new film Hugo below and check out their site to listen to more Q&As with some of the films up for BAFTA nominations!

Finally the Children’s Radio Foundation gives young people the skills and tools to make their voices heard. Using radio and other low-cost communication technologies, they build local capacity to create and sustain community-based youth media initiatives.  Doing great work in various countries in Africa, the charity is also supported by the likes of MIT and UNICEF.  Take a listen below to one of the many great pieces the children make as part of the program.
