Found Sounds: City Soundtracks
Found Sounds is a SoundCloud community feature focusing on some of the most weird and wonderful sounds that can be found on SoundCloud. Count on new installments with some of our favorite sounds each Tuesday!
Each city has its own soundtrack. A city’s sound can be defined by the subway chimes, police sirens, and its streets, but what it is that gives a city its soundtrack is its Buskers. Buskers define the personality of a city’s street, for example Paris. We imagine the streets of Paris to be filled with the sounds of brass instruments, romance and accordions, and the reason for this is because of the city’s entertainers, the Buskers.
Each city also has their own unique Busker. I know for me it’s the guitarist who play’s at Boxhagener Platz every Sunday in Berlin. For Evan Tenanbaum of Portland it is a guy called Kirk Reeves. Evan took the time out to chat with Portland’s infamous busker and he sure sounds like he had some stories to tell:
Over the years I’ve also come across Buskers who have encapsulated me with their sounds. Either because of the talent they have, or because of the surreal nature of the sounds. Dave K captured this dreamlike sound from a Busker in Melbourne.
These entertainers keep our streets from going quiet, they define the personality of our city and give it a soundtrack. What’s the sound of your city?
That’s all for this week’s Found Sounds! Tune in next week for more crazy sounds from the ‘Cloud.
