Meet SoundCloud Chicago Hero: Jaime Black

SoundCloud Chicago Hero, Jaime Black runs a Chicago-based music and entertainment podcast called Dynasty Podcasts. Jaime has been involved in the Chicago radio scene for more than 10 years. Need tips on podcasting and radio journalism, or hosting shows on SoundCloud? He’s your guy.

What do you do? How do you use SoundCloud in your life?
My name is Jaime Black and I’m a podcaster out of Chicago. My background is 13 years working in commercial radio and nine years as a published journalist. I began podcasting in 2005, launching Dynasty Podcasts, Chicago’s very first music-focused podcast series and network. I’m a total SoundCloud addict, hosting my podcasts at http://soundcloud.com/dynastypodcasts.

What are your aspirations for the SoundCloud community in your city?
As Chicago’s SoundCloud Hero, I’m looking to connect and showcase Chicago’s audio talent, including musicians of all genres, podcasters, poets, and all other audio enthusiasts. I want to showcase the city’s creative talent and help their work reach a larger audience.

What is your favorite place in the city and why?
I’m a longtime appreciator of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, which is a predominantly Mexican community hosting a growing artist presence. Not only does it feature great eats, but there are always artist gallery events happening. Plus all sorts of highly interesting city secrets.

What is your favorite sound and why?
My favorite sound is anything that excites or reveals something new to my audience. If something finds something they like in one of my podcasts, that’s awesome and it means I’m doing my job well.
