Tea(m) Time with Tiago Loureiro
Today, please help me welcome Tiago Loureiro to the SoundCloud team in Berlin in this weeks edition of Tea(m) Time!
Hi there! Thanks for the interview- can you say “hi” to everyone in your native language?
Olá !
How many languages do you speak?
Hmmm… Portuguese, English, Spanish and Estonian… hopefully German soon as well :)
How did you get introduced to SoundCloud?
A little over a year ago I was trying to learn how to play the guitar online (by the way, I am using http://justinguitar.com/ , he is just awesome). In some parts of the training, he wants you to guess the names of the chords that he is playing and he used SoundCloud to upload his music! I thought those waveforms looked soooo cool so I had to investigate where they came from and one year later here I am!
What is your role at SoundCloud?
I’m a Backend developer.
What is your favorite sound?
Depends on the mood but the range is wide! I was very much into trance (Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, etc..) but now I tend to go for Jack Johnson or some more laid back kind of music… if I need to code, trance still gets me focused.
What sound do you hate?
I still can’t get around to enjoy psy-trance nor drum n bass.
If you had 3 words to describe yourself, what would they be?
Backpacker, open-minded, calm.
How is it working at such an International and diverse office?
Simply awesome! For more details, you really have to join ;)
When you are not working, what do you love to do? What are you passionate about?
Traveling! Most of my free time (and money!) goes into traveling! There’s something about going around with a backpack and not knowing where you are going sleep, what the next city/country is going to be. If I am not traveling, then you can probably find me either: watching a movie at home, playing football, having a beer with friends at the pub or trying to improve my guitar skills.
Why should someone apply to SoundCloud?
The people! The product! The atmosphere in the office is just awesome, it’s great to be at ‘work’. It’s amazing how long people stay at work without even noticing…
Thanks so much for the great interview! Where can we find you on the interwebs?
