Tea(m) Time with Moritz Königsbüscher
It is Friday, that means it is time for our weekly employee interview series that we have dubbed “Tea(m) Time”! Today, help us welcome Moritz Königsbüscher to our team in Berlin!
Hi there! Thanks for the interview- can you say “hi” to everyone in your native language
Moin Moin!
Where are you from?
I am from Hamburg, Germany, but I grew up close to the Ruhrpott. So I still consider myself as a “Pottkind”.
What do you do at SoundCloud? What’s your role?
I am the product manager in charge of payments. I also make sure that our community team has all the tools available to make dealing with payment processes as easy as possible.
We thank you for that Moritz :). Can you tell us what your favorite sound is?
My favorite sound is that of the Queen Mary 2 blowing her fog horns when leaving or entering Hamburg. These horns are loud and sometimes go odd in the middle of the night! Here is a sound I recorded of the horn blasts:
What sound don’t you particularly enjoy?
That sound when you come back from holidays and hear that your water tap is running.
Oh, that is certainly a bad sound! If you had 3 words to describe yourself, what would they be?
Tall, slightly bearded.
Amazing! What’s your favorite word (in any language)?
Dennoch (German). Translation: (nevertheless, however, anyhow)
How is it working at such an International and diverse office?
Big fun! The smart folks here always help setting the right perspective.
If you could say that you are passionate about anything, what would it be?
I am actually passionate about creating things which other people love.
Why do you think someone should apply to SoundCloud?
To make the next big internet thing happen. Seriously!
Why do you like sounds?
I think that music, or sound in a broader way, is a most basic means of communication. It sets and changes moods. What would life be without sounds anyways?
What do you like most about Berlin?
Berlin is such a vivid place. It´s international, it has so many different places to go and check out. For me it´s a city which happens outside most of the time, so many people on the streets. Berlin is all about its people. Quite a colorful mix.
What are your favorite sounds on the cloud & why?
The Sunpilots: The Piper´s Mirror
and Nicolas Jaar.
I heard of Nicolas Jaar through a SoundCloud addict (Hello Anita!), and instantly liked his music. If electronic music, then like this: smart, creative and versatile.
So Moritz, do you have any fun facts that you would like to share?
When I had my 13th birthday, I was flown to school by helicopter together with Rudi Carell, a famous Dutch showmaster.
Very cool! Where can we find you on the internetz?
