Meet Cuyahoga Falls, OH SoundCloud Hero: Bryn Martin
SoundCloud Heroes are inspirational leaders who bring people together around sound by cultivating and engaging unique communities.
If you’ve missed it, we introduced our newest SoundCloud Heroes this past week! Last but not least, we’d like to introduce you to musician Bryn Martin, aka Bryyn. He has been an active SoundClouder for almost two years, collaborating with folks all around the world and would like to purse a boundary-pushing sound idea with your help called “Sound Font.” Curious? Listen and read on below. Take a listen to Bryn retell the journey of the release of his full-length album ‘In Shapes’ as well.
Quick Facts:
Name: Bryn Martin, aka Bryyn
SoundCloud: Bryyn
Location: Cuyahoga Falls, OH
What do you do? How do you use SoundCloud in your life?
In real life I’m a neuroscientist. To be honest, it’s really fun! You would like it. On SoundCloud, I try to act like a musician. There isn’t much difference!
What is the collaboration idea that you would like to accomplish with the SoundCloud community?
I would like to make a sound font machine! This is a machine that would turn the curves and edges of text into sounds. Imagine you have a conveyor belt, like at the grocery store, and it drags your letters under a digital camera that takes intermittent pictures. The pictures would then get converted into sounds based on taking derivatives of the letter edges. This machine could be really fun because different languages might sound different. We would have a SoundCloud widget that you could type comments into and then the comments would turn directly into a sound font track! it would be like a reverse SoundCloud widget. You would make the sounds with the comments, and people could then make their own stories!
What is your favorite place in the city and why?
In Cuyahoga Falls, there is this deep valley and it’s all green and looks like you are in the jungle without any city around!
What is your favorite sound and why?
There is a bell buoy sitting out in the Nantucket sound that is all red and it rings all day and night…even in the fog. That’s my kind of bell.
