Tea(m) Time with Mathilde Menusier
It is Friday again, that means it is time for our weekly employee interview series that we have dubbed “Tea(m) Time”! Today, help us welcome Mathilde Menusier to our team in Berlin!
Hi there! How do you say “hi” in your native language?
Depending on the friend I greet, I would say “Salut !”, “Coucou !” or just “Yo !” (with a space between the word and “!” in French.)
Where are you from?
I’m from France, but my years spent in London and New York City have shaped me the most.
What do you do at SoundCloud? What’s your role?
I work within the Community Team. We are doing our best to make people delighted – with their SoundCloud experience, at least!
What is your favorite sound?
I like surrounding sounds a lot. In New York, I like the police and ambulances sirens, the ice cream van music, the skate boards of the kids in my street, the MTA announcements in the Subway… In Berlin, I like waking up to birds singing, hearing my next door neighbour playing the piano, and the bike bells you hear everywhere in the streets! I also love my cat’s mumbling (she talks a lot!) and the sound of silence.
What sound do you hate?
Trains slowing down.
What’s your favorite word (in any language)?
“OK”, it’s so universal and easy!
How is it working at such an International and diverse office?
It is like this:
If you could say that you are passionate about anything, what would it be?
I am passionate about music, film, art, friendships… I love traveling, cats, documentaries, and tiramisù, too.
Why do you like sounds?
Subconsciously, they add some texture – intensity, nostalgia, sensuality, lightness, melancholy, etc. – to your impressions.
What do you like most about Berlin?
After the oppression of blasé Paris, the expensiveness of drizzling London and extreme effervescence of fiery NY, Berlin feels like a restful, inspiring and invigorating walk where you get to focus on your life again whilst sipping a cup of green tea at the terrace of a
What are your favorite sounds on the cloud?
My favourites are many and they always change, but for now i’m quite found of:
Do you have any fun facts or interesting stories you would like to share?
I have tons of interesting stories from my 8 years of TV Journalism, but I’m writing them down in a script right now…
Please send me your sounds of Manhattan to http://soundcloud.com/mathilde/dropbox and get my eternal gratitude.
