SoundCloud Clubhouse at SXSW 2014 Wrap Up
Whew! We’re just back at SoundCloud HQ after three amazing days at the SoundCloud Clubhouse, all thanks to the artists and music & comedy fans who converged at South By Southwest to join us in a celebration of the SoundCloud community.
This was our first year as an official venue: with the help of some incredible designers and a lot of orange (our favorite color) we transformed the Lustre Pearl on Rainey Street into the SoundCloud Clubhouse for three days and nights of performances from major artists and emerging talents across all kinds of genres.
Wednesday night, headlined by Zed’s Dead, was bass and drop heavy, with supporting sets from Ryan Hemsworth, Tourist, RAC, RÜFÜS DU SOL and the comedy variety show of Imaginary Radio.

Daytime sets on Thursday and Friday featuring emerging musicians from the SoundCloud community included Starlight Girls, AGO (Waldo, Sango, Joose, The SEVENth, Famous Ame), Hefna Gwap, Heidi Harris, Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes, Kris Orlowski, Cyra Morgan, Black & White Years, Yalls, and Spazzkid.
Thursday night was our hip hop showcase, headlined by SchoolBoyQ and packed from the moment it kicked off. Earlier sets featured Chuck Inglish, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, Two-9, and London-based rapper Little Simz. Comedian TJ Miller opened the night with an act that included The Hot 8 Brass Band playing New Orleans funk, fake cops, an auction for an inflatable astronaut, and a “spontaneous” Korean dance crew break.

We closed things out on Friday with a long set from Classixx that lasted until 2 am. Supporting were a fantastic mix of indie and electronic influenced acts including Lemaitre, Panama, The Internet, Kaytranada, and Touch Sensitive.

We also had a chance to connect with many of our featured artists during sound checks and interviews in the green room. The one thing they all had in common? How hard they are all working on their careers, with the SoundCloud community as a major part of the process, helping them grow professionally and creatively. Keep an ear out on our social channels — we’ll be sharing interviews we taped at the Clubhouse in the coming weeks. You can see more pictures from throughout the week on our Instagram or on Facebook and Google +.
The SoundCloud Clubhouse could never have happened without many, many amazing people who made it a success. Our thanks go out to everyone: SXSW, the Austin Police Department, and the Lustre Pearl staff, Anthony Georgis, Houndstooth Studios, Transmission Events, all of the incredible musicians and comedians, everyone in the energetic crowds each night, and anyone that stopped by the Clubhouse. Thanks for being a part of the SoundCloud community. We’ll see you next year.
