Please introduce yourself to the SoundCloud community.

We are Daytrip: two producers trying to make sense of the world and share our story through our music, our photos, and our words.

When we were younger, our creation was bounded by the expectations of the world around us. Our inspiration comes from the experience of discovering wider worlds—cultures, ideologies, artforms, and the infinite possibilities that accompany them. Through discovery, we built new mirrors to look at ourselves. Every song translates our emotions and reflections into sound. We create what we feel based on what’s around us. We are a product of each step into the unknown. We are wherever our music takes us…

How do you use SoundCloud?

SoundCloud is our hub. Through it, we’ve made friends, made discoveries, got excited, and got jealous. It’s where we test what we’ve created—what we’re proud of—with an audience for the first time. It enables us to give a part of ourselves out to the world. Our musical journey will live on SoundCloud as our travels take us to destinations unknown.

Describe your creative process. What is your set up like?

The whole truth is never fun—a little mystery keeps the flame alive. The world is our instrument. Sound is all around us. We start from there and build up.

How have you reached certain goals or steps in your career?

By not setting boundaries. Create something that’s yours and inspire others to follow.

What does it feel like to become a Premier Partner? Where do you want to take your career next?

We’re grateful to be working side by side with people that actually care about helping artists survive and live dreams. It has been nothing but love.

Who or what is inspiring you creatively? Are there people that you’d like to collaborate or work with?

On a whim we created Daytrip, the sudden spark to live for experiences and let discovery shape your character and your future. We took a risk. To abandon long-held beliefs that stunted growth; we wanted to see the world beyond our windows. We left New York City on our own flight… “Flight 43”… and we still come back. After all, it is the home we’ve built since we left our parents’ homes.

Our purpose unfolds and evolves with each new port of call. At each stop, we’ve found people excited to come onboard. We made it to Kingston, Jamaica. We partied. It was our first stop. Our song “Drop It” is that experience—the late nights, the bass-filled basements, the moving bodies. We made it to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We were woken up. We experienced a different way of life. We created “The Escape,” a musical encapsulation of the rollercoaster we experienced. Down in the trenches. In the heart of it. From the depths to a moment of release…freedom. To realizing it isn’t easy to escape. To realizing that only escape may be spiritual, a drug, a dream, real life, or death.

And now we’re onto our next journey of self discovery… And what that brings we will see. Right now we know the world is what inspires us. And anyone else who wants to discover more is welcome to join.

Any final thoughts?

Learn who you are before you change the world. Let the world teach you about the person you want to be and how you can positively affect those around you and those far beyond your corner of the globe. The possibilities are infinite.
