First post to first production: Cathedrals First on SoundCloud story

It is fairly miraculous that Cathedrals’ Brodie Jenkins and Johnny Hwin found each other. While Jenkins toured with her mother and sister in a folk-country family band, Hwin cut his teeth crafting beats alongside electronic artists like Blackbird Blackbird. And yet, when their disparate worlds collided at the famed San Francisco arts space The SUB, the dreamiest sounds emerged.

Cathedrals joined SoundCloud in 2013 and critical attention pretty much immediately followed. After discovering Cathedrals’ first single, “Unbound,” online, indie record label Neon Gold offered to release Jenkins and Hwin’s next EP. The Bay Area duo’s shimmering instrumentals and soulful vocals led to sold out shows, major festival performances, and collaborations with acclaimed producers like BØRNS and the Grammy-nominated Tommy English. Jenkins and Hwin are currently working on their next release but one thing is certain: wherever Cathedrals’ journey takes them, we’re proud of where it all started – right here, on SoundCloud.
