Having joined SoundCloud back in 2014, Melo Makes Music (born Carmelo Cianflone) doesn’t appear to be going anywhere but up. Hailing from Chicago’s South Side, Melo Makes Music is part of a new wave of talent emerging from the city’s indie hip-hop scene alongside artists like Towkio, Knox Fortune, Chance the Rapper and Taylor Bennett.

With a heavy focus on the violin, cello and other strong instrumentals, Melo Make Music takes his grungy hip-hop and R&B sound and injects it with a classical twist. Pair that with his bold vocals, topical lyrics and themes of empowerment and it’s no wonder he was named one of SoundCloud’s Artists to Watch in 2018.
