SoundCloud x Noisey Video Singles finale event
The midyear deluge of music known as “festival season” might be a distant memory, but last Wednesday SoundCloud x Noisey proved that fans could still experience summer-stage-level heat at a bar in Brooklyn while the outside temps dipped to 30-something degrees.
The SoundCloud x Noisey Singles event was the culmination of the program by the same name that kicked off in June and surfaced a new voice every month during the back half of 2018. As part of the SoundCloud x Noisey Singles series, six select SoundCloud Premier creators were given featured placement on SoundCloud’s playlists and social channels, editorial ops with Noisey, production support for a full-length video, and additional exposure – e.g., showcases like these.
The finale held at multidisciplinary space Kinfolk 94 in Williamsburg featured a rising-star-studded lineup. Jersey-based Jay Hype opened the night with her R&B midtempo lament, “Days,” Chicago’s Melo Makes Music brought everyone down a slinky, synth-flanked memory lane with “Remember,” and Portland, Oregon’s Cassow left a mark with his indelible-ink chorus and performance of “HEART TATTOOED.” DJ Mike Nasty kept the vibes high and soundwaves ablaze between sets, while hundreds of people basked in a SoundCloud-orange glow, danced in front of white-washed exposed brick, and lounged in a plush pillow-filled pit.
As fans mingled, and artists jingled, it was clear that what’s next in music is first on SoundCloud – and December in New York might be the most festive season of all.
