Hear the collab from “Studio Sessions: The Bridge” Ep. 4, Toronto

Last fall we put out a call for rappers, producers, and songwriters across North America to send us their original tracks for a chance at being featured on Studio Sessions: The Bridge, our contest series that brings four talented artists together to make a hit record in just eight hours.

For our final episode of the season we head up north to Toronto, a city that’s captured the world’s attention with its signature sound. Determined to make the best track yet, the crew hit the city’s iconic Sandbox Studios with open minds, collaborative spirits and faith in the process.

In the studio, producer Vulve Velue wasted no time crafting a three-in-one shapeshifting instrumental perfectly suited to each of his collaborator’s talents. With SESE’s bouncy hooks, NTHN’s spontaneous smoky vocals, and ShaqIsDope’s bar-heavy verses flowing smoothly into each other, “Ambrosia,” is a musical journey best experienced on a late-night drive. Watch how the track came together via the video below.

Meet the artists

Vulve Velue

Vulve Velue is a musician and producer based in Toronto, Canada. His lush instrumentals blend hip-hop, jazz & indie rock into a sound that’s totally his own. Velue dropped his first single “Tropical” in 2019 and is currently working on his debut EP due sometime this year.

ShaqIsDope

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, ShaqIsDope is a talented MC with a gift for dropping bars at a dizzying pace. Having been raised in the Bleecker St. Community, one of the roughest areas of the city, Shaq now channels his energy and raw talent into being a voice for the voiceless.

NTHN

Toronto’s NTHN has only been making music for a few years, but he sings with the soul of a veteran. After dropping off a series of pop-infused R&B singles in 2019, the vocalist has his heart set on making 2020 his breakout year.

SESE

SESE is a singer-songwriter born in Minneapolis, MN. Growing up he moved constantly, bouncing back and forth between American and Africa before finally making a home for himself in Toronto. His worldliness comes across in his sound, which is singular yet versatile, equally at home on new age hip-pop as it is on melodic trap bangers. SESE’s debut EP “The Star of the North” is a perfect introduction to this multidimensional talent.

While this may be the final episode of The Bridge for this season, this series is just picking up speed. Keep uploading and tagging your original tracks #studiosessions to be considered for a future episode, and if you really can’t wait, you can DIY by searching the hashtag and getting in touch with the creators you think might vibe with your sound.
