Bristol is the focus of this week’s SoundCloud Local. Situated in South-West England, Bristol has produced the likes of Banksy and Massive Attack, as well as the following three SoundClouders. Let’s have a listen:
Vaetxh
Rob Clouth makes electronica, (or as he calls it ‘glitchstep’) as Vaetxh. The intricate rhythms, filled with degraded buzzes and clicks are reminiscent of the likes of Prefuse 73 and Telefon Tel Aviv.
Lord Edward Dark
Lord Edward Dark is the solo project of Phillip Collings, full of lush orchestrations and harmonious vocals. Phillip’s currently posting the progress he’s making on two new albums over on his SoundCloud account.
Vacant Shores
Back on an electronic tip, Vacant Shores are a two piece mixing dark, electronic atmospheres, haunting vocals, and glitchy beats.

K12 is a 23 year old musician who moved to Toulouse 2 years ago. His productions are heavy combinations of electro and dubstep. Take a listen below:
For something decidedly more chilled, check out Patrick Duvignacq. The six piece band mix together all kinds of instrumentation, from synths, banjos and saxophones, to Ribabs and Lotars, resulting in an eclectic mix of genres.
Taking the multi-cultural mix even further, is Ethnicalvibes, combining the sounds of sitars and tablas with drum machines and synths.
A post about France wouldn’t be complete without some French rap. Bim Bam Prod are a crew of rappers, dancers, DJ’s, beatmakers, graffiti artists, all working together.
Finally, we have Saåad, who makes dark, distorted drone music, full of atmosphere.
The music that Christopher Norman makes isn’t Techno, or House, but orchestral electronic pop. Chris describes himself as “a man with a couple instruments, a few microphones, and a minimoog.” Take a listen below.
Sad Souls is Tom Auty, who also makes music as Wizards, and Cerulean Tapes. His album Aperion is a collection of ambient soundscapes. Perfect for working to, or just kicking back.
Samn Johnson is a 20 year old composer and musician, studying composition at the University of Michigan. Samn started out playing guitar in a punk band, but found himself producing orchestral pieces, as well as music for piano, and chamber ensembles. He’s currently working on his first album.
Little is known about Elkhart, other than the fact that is the surname of a man called Thomas. Elkart’s music is rooted in the area’s heritage of drum machines, synths and grooves. Take a listen below.
It’s not all electronic beats and chilled atmospherics coming out of Ann Arbor though. We Are The Union are a five-piece band specialising in ska-punk, known for their love for fast music, horns and their incredibly short attention spans.
